Midnight Mystery Theater

THE CASE OF THE MISSING MIRACLE
The Muldoon brewery St. Patrick’s day parade leprechaun is incarcerated in Bellevue mental ward for claiming to be a vacuum repairman and not a leprechaun. Child star Surly Temper has a shot at playing Dorothy in the sequel to The Wizard of Oz” but only with the Muldoon leprechaun as the mayor of Munchkin Land. Can private eye Dick Doubleheart crack the true identity of the incarcerated Celtic enigma?

THE CASE OF THE MISSING MEMORY
The wife and the Broadway star mistress of an eccentric inventor of a memory improvement device are both accused of murdering him. Ace attorney Brock Burner, with the of assistance of his legal secretary Ella Avenue and investigator Drake DePaul, defends both women.

Turn this weeknight into a STRONG NIGHT!!! Your poor neglected funny bone demands a good tickling!! Members of 12th Night Productions and actual attorney Keith Kessler join MMT this month for the MM show!! Mystery involves a Perry Mason spoof (a Perry-dy?) & Miracle delves into child star Surly Temple’s attempt to make a Wizard of Oz sequel (but not without the participation of an actual leprechaun, who’s imprisoned in a mental ward). Special guests Rachelle Henry, Jonelle Jordan, Nate Maddox & Rick Springer & Keith Kessler: Attorney at Law join regulars Erin Day, Chris Mathews and mastermind John Ruoff!! Ably assisted by Jasen Britcher on LIVE sound effects & Josh Anderson tickling the ivories. Tickets are a scandalously reasonable 10 smackers.
Othello, a celebrated general, yet an outsider, defies social convention and marries Desdemona, a Venetian aristocrat. Enter Othello’s most trusted lieutenant, the honest Iago, who nurses a vengeful hate for his commander. As Iago draws Othello and the audience into a spider web of half-truths, scandal is fueled families and friendships destroyed until a trifle light as air tragically unravels them all.

The Tale Of An American Hero

A Comedy by David Kulcsar.

Once America’s #1 supplier of lemonade, LemonCo faces an uncertain future after struggling through the economic downturn.
Two Rooms

Two Rooms is one of acclaimed playwright Lee Blessing’s most recognized plays. A woman, Lainie, sits in an empty room and waits for news of her husband, a hostage in Lebanon. She imagines conversing with her husband, and deals with a representative of the State Department and a member of the press as she tries to find her way.

This play explores the personal cost of large-scale political conflict, and measures the power, or lack of power, that governments have over individuals. The US State Department wants Lainie to stay quiet, to not get in the way of their ongoing negotiations. The press wants to share her story with the world. Lainie just wants her husband back. And her husband just wants to come home.

After an acclaimed production of Proof in 2012 as well as an original show for Veteran’s Day, Confrontational Theater Project is proud to show the first of two plays that represent their 2013 “season”. Both shows deal with hostages and hostage-takers. Look for Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me as a companion piece this fall.

Performances are all weekend at 8 p.m., with a pay what you will preview on Thursday, and an Industry Night on Monday, where theater and film folks are especially welcome.

May 31-June 4 at 8pm.

Once again, we are offering this show for one weekend only! If you heard about our previous shows by haven’t made the time, don’t miss out this time around.

The show features performances by Scott C. Brown, Brittni Thoreson, and Julia Nardin.

Two Rooms is produced by Baron Von Oldenburg and directed by Beau M. K. Prichard.

Please plan to arrive early to find parking.

“Set along the Washington-Canada border in the 1980s, this taut little thriller by Jim Moran has a cinematic quality—tight lighting to illuminate a small corner of the stage at a time, sharp blackouts to punctuate a joke or a threat, and eccentric small-town characters that wouldn’t be out of place in movies by the Coen brothers or David Lynch. Lisa Carswell plays an earnest and dutiful border patrol agent with a drinking problem whose husband disappeared in the jungles of Vietnam. The play opens with her inspecting a wooden statuette that her new life-insurance agent (David Foubert) is bringing back from Canada. The insurance man’s constant tic of a laugh tells us there’s trouble ahead. Directed by Jane Ryan, Across a Little Red Marker has its amateurish elements (a few too many surrealistic monologues by a madwoman who carries around a cage of grasshoppers, some uncomfortable and hesitant acting in a few of the latter scenes), but this world premiere is a frisky and entertaining little play. If there is justice in the theater world, it will be worked on and picked up by bigger companies in other cities.” (Brendan Kiley)
